Description: Poems by Ronald Kimber, selected from his collection "Eccentric city." Poems written in the 1980s about Kimber's childhood in the Shore Drive Community in downtown Greenville, N.C. Kimber lived there from his birth in 1950 until about 1965. The subjects of his poems include his family, the pastimes of city kids, Rhythm and Blues music, home cooking and restaurants, and the corner store. The African American neighborhood in this area was removed and the area redeveloped in the 1960s to create a town common area. Loaned for scanning by Ronald Kimber.
