Description: Letter from Robert C. Caldwell to his wife Mag Caldwell. Robert is serving as a private in Company C., 10th Battalion, North Carolina Heavy Artillery near Wilmington, N.C. Robert writes that his health is good but it's so cold he did not go to church that day. He advises Mag on hiring help for the farm and tells her not to expect him home on furlough. He has holes in his socks and gets his wash done in town for 25 cents a piece.
