Description: Oath of Allegiance to support, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States signed Andrew J. P. Giddings in Elmira, New York after the end of the Civil War. Andrew J. P. Giddings was a Confederate soldier from Onslow County, North Carolina, who served in Company E, 3rd North Carolina Infantry, during the Civil War, 1861-1865. Giddings fought in the Battle of the Wilderness, where he was captured, and then imprisoned at Elmira, NY, 1864-1865.
