Jones (D-AL), 1957-1961; as Deputy for Reserve and ROTC Affairs in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, 1961-1971; as an Air Force reserve major general; and finally as Vice Chancellor of East Carolina University and Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, 1971-1974.
