Date from negative sleeve. John Flanagan was a Pitt County manufacturer. He established the John Flanagan Buggy Company in Greenville after the Civil War. Flanagan held various public positions in Greenville and Pitt County. Although he was elected mayor of Greenville, he declined the position due to a lack of time to devote to the post.
