Description: This folder contains diaries on the experiences of Brigadier General Paul A. Putnam of the United States Marine Corp during his time as a prisoner of war in a Japanese camp. Putnam's diaries discuss his capture on Wake Island and life in the prisoner-war-camps. Also included are details of the Marine Fighting Squadron 211's actions during Battle of Wake Island, a roster of men in the squadron and the camps, and detailed service records of men under Putnam's command. Another item included is a recipe book from the prison camp in Zentsuji, Japan written by Putnam.
