Wehmann was assistant chief of the Navy and Old Army Branch, Military Archives Division. The letter discusses sending copies of the remarks pages of the deck log of the USS Ticonderoga. Long joined the Navy in 1944 and was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CV-14). After he left the Navy, Long became involved in the Big "T" Veterans Association and began research on a book he intended to write about the Ticonderoga.
