Description: “Dr. Lula M. Disosway Honored As Outstanding New Bern Woman” newspaper clipping from the Sun Journal, October 27, 1969, page 5. A native of New Bern, Dr. Disoway served as a medical missionary of the Episcopal Church in China and Alaska, serving as obstetrician and surgeon (1927-1947). She later became director of Good Shepherd Hospital (1954-1967) and staffed the maternity clinic at Craven Memorial Hospital (1966-1973).
