She writes about her Christmas celebrations at the Anglican Mission, the increased number of students at the language school, and her potential plans when she leaves Beijing in June. She briefly describes the many layers of clothes her Chinese teacher wears to keep warm in winter and how international post is sent from China. She also gives her opinion of Chinese servants. A native of Winterville, Venetia Cox was an Episcopal missionary music teacher in mainland China between 1917 and 1950.
