Description: Letter from George Attmore Sparrow in Lake Landing, NC to his father Thomas Sparrow. George writes to his father that he received a short letter and two bundles of paper containing copies of The Sentinel and N.Y. papers. George says that he doesn’t have much time for writing anymore because he is so tired after work that he just goes to bed. He sent a copy of a speech he delivered at the celebration of the anniversary of the Temperance Council at Middle Creek Church. George has spent the past two weeks plowing for Dr. and Mrs. Selby. He writes about spending time with the Selbys and visiting with other local people. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
