Description: Letter from George Attmore Sparrow in Lake Landing, NC to his father Thomas Sparrow. George writes to his father that he received his letter but not the bundle of papers that he sent. George says that the weather is beautiful and promises a good crop year. George has spent the last couple weeks plowing and says that he is not used to so much physical labor. He is in an isolated area where they do not get much news about the outside world. George then talks about going to church, socializing with local people, and having cheap but comfortable quarters. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
