George writes to his father to tell him that he arrived at Camp Holmes near Raleigh, NC last night and joined the company that has about 110 men. George says he has mess and tent with Louis Reid, Carney Bryan, John Selby, Jimmie Blount, and Ed Duvall. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
