Description: Letter from George Attmore Sparrow at the Hillsborough Military Academy to his father Thomas Sparrow. George writes to his father after receiving a letter approving his discharge from the academy. He tells his father that he will come to Wilmington, NC as he asked with several other cadets who are returning home after the session ends on July 31st. George says that he saw his Aunt Maggie and that his father should let his sister Annie go stay with her in Morganton, NC. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
