Description: The LR is the top-of-the line petrographic microscope manufactured by Bausch and Lomb. It was one of the first polarizing microscopes to use film polarizers rather than Nicol or Ahrens prisms. The films have badly yellowed in this example. This instrument is equipped with centering lens mounts, double diaphragm condenser and Bertrand lens. The analyzer is also mounted in the tube and can be swung out of the light path. In 1970, the price was $2,089. The serial number is GD7327.
