American Concentric Microscope
Title: American Concentric Microscope
Identifier: LL02.48.01.25   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/22080)
Description: This is a very unusual design using a concept of George Wale, who designed a microscope that inclines by rotating along the limb. The American Concentric was designed by Jacob D. Cox, Governor of Ohio, and first shown at the American Society of Microscopists meeting in 1883 (Proceedings of the American Society of Microscopists 1883; 5:147-8.) This design is extremely stable at any angle of inclination. This instrument has an excellent set of polarizing prisms and was illustrated on the cover of Crystals and Mine in 1992. The serial number is 4480.
