Description: This large microscope was a masterpiece of early 20th-century design. It was designed to be used in many advanced areas and for photomicrography and is the first model with a horizontal geared fine adjustment. The first fluorescence microscopes and Kohler's ultraviolet microscopes were constructed with Ic stands using fluorite optics. Among the well known users were Jules Bordet, who discovered complement fixation, and Karl Landsteiner, who discovered human blood groups and made important advances in understanding antibody specificity. This line is called "jug handle" microscopes and the model is called "Bier Seidel". The serial number is 37457.
