Description: The Stativ Ia was the top of the line of Zeiss microscopes. It had a rotating stage and an advanced mechanical stage, part of which is missing in this example. It was designed to be used for photomicrography. Among the many well known users were Elie Metchnikoff, the discoverer of phagocytosis and Walter Reed for his studies of yellow fever. The serial number is 28213.
