Syphilis Primaria
Title: Syphilis Primaria
Identifier: LL02.49.00.85   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/21191)
Description: Dermatologic stereoview card. Front of card shows a penis afflicted with Syphilis Primaria. The reverse of the card describes the dermatologic conditions as well as the diagnosis and treatment. Spirochaeta pallida finds its way into the system by inoculation. After a period of incubation that may last for two to ten weeks but is usually about three, at the point of entry the first evidence of syphilis arises and is a chancre. About one week after the appearance of the primary lesion on the penis the inguinal glands become discretely and painlessly enlarged and hard. A sore which appears more than ten days after the last coitus is probably a chancre. Syphilis Primaria may also be known as Sclerosis syphilitica, Chancre, or Hard chancre
