Paronychia
Title: Paronychia
Identifier: LL02.49.00.60   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/21166)
Description: Dermatologic stereoview card. Front of card shows a person’s hands with Paronychia. The reverse of the card describes the dermatologic conditions as well as the diagnosis and treatment. Paronychia is a simple inflammation of the tissues about the nail. The intensity of the process varies from a superficial inflammation with slight redness and scarcely perceptible swelling to an intensely painful and tender, angry phlegmonous tumefaction accompanied by suppuration or ulceration, and often producing a bulbous deformity of the terminal phalanx. Paronychia may also be known as Whitlow, Run-around, in growing toe-nail.
