Dermatitis Exfoliativa
Title: Dermatitis Exfoliativa
Identifier: LL02.49.00.10   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/21116)
Description: Dermatologic stereoview card. Dermatologic stereoview card. Front of card depicts a nude male body from head to the upper thigh with Dermatitis Exfoliativa. The reverse of the card describes the dermatologic conditions as well as the diagnosis and treatment. Dermatitis exfoliativa begins upon any part of the body, but usually in the flexures about the joints, as patches of erythemas which spread and coalesce. A small percentage of cases progressed to a persistent universal dermatitis from which the patient never recovered. In general the itching is more intense, the skin is more indurated and there is always at some time a gummy oozing from some part of the lesion. Treatments with a tonic and externally a bland preparation of petrolatum and carbolic acid were indicated. Dermatologic Exfliativa may also be known as Pityriasis rubra, Eczema foliaceum seu exfoliativum.
