His arm is propped on top of of three boxes of Scott's Emulsion written in different languages. In tiny print on the bottom lower left is: Copyrighted 1889 by Scott & Bowne. Knapp & Co., Lith, N.Y. The reverse of the card states that Scott's Emulsion is "used in almost all the countries of the world, and is highly esteemed. It is used for coughs, colds, consumption, scrofula, anemia, and depraved conditions of the blood. At the bottom is stated: Cherry Malt Phosphites is the best appetizer and stimulating tonic in the world."
