Dr. Jayne's Expectorant
Title: Dr. Jayne's Expectorant
Identifier: LL02.12.01.15.07   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/20680)
Description: This card depicts a young girl wearing a blue dress with a blue bow in her hair, examining the scratches on her upper arm. There is a gray cat standing on its hind legs with its front claws catching in the little girl's dress. A small ball is resting near the little girl's feet. "The title of the picture is "Naughty Puss". The reverse of this card states that to use Dr. Jayne's Expectorant "that like the picture it is necessary to impress on all that once a cold is contracted, it should have prompt treatment or the cough may so rack and inflame the lungs that tubercles will form and incipient consumption instead of a simple cold will have to be dealt with." Dr. Jayne's Expectorant is used for bronchitis, sore throat, asthma, pleurisy, consumption, croup, and whooping cough. Jayne's Tonic Vermifuge is used for dyspepsia and is the "safest worm medicine for children". Presented by J.C. Sprague, Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence Co., New York.
