Description: Oral History Interview with retired Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel William McReynolds, of the United States Naval Academy class of 1941. Interview 1, Tape 1 (of 2), Sides A and B. Colonel McReynolds, the son of a Marine Corps officer, comments on his childhood at various Marine bases including Parris Island, the Naval War College, and the Portsmouth Naval Prison. McReynolds also discusses the the death of his father in Nicaragua in 1929, his experiences at the U.S. Naval Academy, and his selection for the Marine Corps. For the period after his commissioning as a Marine officer, he reflects on his training at Quantico and Parris Island. Interviewer: Donald R. Lennon.
