Description: A block-long shopping center, Village Square Shopping Center, was completely destroyed by fire Wednesday morning. The center contained 12 stores and was completely gutted. Smoke from the center which is located on U.S. 258 could be seen for miles. The fire was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. when firemen began smashing storefront windows in an effort to use air to suck smoke and heat out.
