Description: To keep warm on a winter night while making house calls in his buggy, Dr. Wood Tucker Johnson, who lived from 1802-1862 would wrap up in a bear skin throw, and gloves. These gloves are extra long so that they could keep his whole arm warm. Dr. Johnson needed these thick bear skin gloves so that he could hold the reigns and encourage his horse to keep going until he reached his patient’s house.
