Description: When a country doctor did not have access to a buggy, surrey, or automobile he often relied on his trusty horse for transportation. Local legend has it that this western style saddle was owned by Dr. T. O. Coppedge, Sr. who traveled from North Carolina to Texas to find his fortune. He later brought the saddle back to North Carolina. It symbolizes the importance of the horse to country doctors throughout North Carolina.
