Description: This oral respirator was intended to be used by “persons afflicted with diseases of the lungs and air passages.” Oral respirators were invented in London by Mr. Jeffreys. A person would wear the respirator over the mouth and breath in normally, keeping the air at an equal, warm temperature at all times. This device was recommended for use in the winter and spring.
