Lecture ticket
Title: Lecture ticket
Identifier: Country Doctor Museum   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/14352)
Description: Have you ever had to buy a ticket to go to class? While most of us today associate buying a ticket with going to the movies or attending a concert, students who wanted to attend medical school during the middle 19th century had to present a lecture ticket or card to get into class! This ticket belonged to Dr. Thomas Henry Avera. He probably bought it for a little over $100. The ticket allowed Avera to attend Dr. WM. E. Horner and Dr. John Neill’s course on practical anatomy and recapitulatory lectures at the University of Pennsylvania during the 1852-1853 session.
