Description: Sugar was an item that had to be imported in the 1800s, in this case from slave plantations in the Caribbean. Sugar often came molded in dense cones or flat loaves. Sugar nippers had a pair of flat blades that could be squeezed together to pinch off just enough valuable sugar as was needed. The accompanying video describes the object. Date approximated.
