Description: Candles that were dipped, rather than molded, could be hung on this contraption to dry. An enslaved worker would dip the wick into hot wax over and over again. As the wax layers increased, the candles would grow thicker. They could then be tied on to a stand like this to dry. The accompanying video describes the candle dipping process. Date approximated.
