Marketing card
Title: Marketing card
Identifier: Tobacco Farm Life Museum   (https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/14254)
Description: Paper marketing cards that were once used to keep track of a tobacco farmer, how much he harvested, how much he sold, and where he sold it, began to be replaced by plastic marketing cards. The purpose of these new cards reflected that of their predecessor, but was more in keeping with the technological advances of the later part of the 20th century. This particular card was owned by Pearl Lorick. This hard plastic card contained the farmer’s information embossed on the front, much like a modern-day credit card. The reverse side of the card stated, in pounds, how much tobacco that farmer could sell during the current year. The card would then be swiped to indicated the amount to be deducted at each auction. Date approximated.
