Description: Interview with 2005 East Carolina University alumnus James Mauldin. Mr. Mauldin describes his early family life as the child of working-class parents in Jonesville, N.C., near Winston-Salem, and the disapproval voiced by some of his extended family regarding his decision to attend college. He describes his student career at ECU from 2002 to 2005, including dorm and social life, sports, and his work at the college radio station, which led him to classes in communications and broadcasting. He reflects on the size of the ECU student body and on the effect of a college degree on income potential. He currently works as a financial aid officer. Interviewer: Martin Tschetter.
