Lorraine Hale Robinson Papers

This collection contains materials related to LeRoy Hale's service during WWII in the 314th Infantry in the 79th Division. The collection includes photographs, correspondence letters to his wife, Emma, memorabilia, separation papers, newspapers and clippings, postcards, and handbooks. A small portion of this collection contains information about Lorraine Hale Robinson and her work during her employment at East Carolina University.

These papers (1848-1882) belonged to Johnson H. Bryan, Jr.(1824-1883) of Craven County, North Carolina. Included are deeds, statements of debt and obligation, receipts, receipts for purchase and sale of enslaved people, correspondence, mortgages, bankruptcy papers, and a resolution of complaint related to tariff discriminations and maintenance deficiencies on the Atlantic and North Carolina Railroad.

Amelia Earhart Photograph Collection

This collection consists 16 unique images, with the remaining items consisting of multiple copies, of file photos of Amelia Earhart, dating from 1918 through 1937. Images include celebrations of Amelia Earhart's first Trans Atlantic flights in 1928, her appearances for the First Powder Puff Air Derby, her attempts to establish various records, and her appearance before the United States Senate. The earliest image depicts Earhart's graduation portrait from 1918. The last photo was taken in Oakland, California, just before her departure to Hawaii in 1937. Two images include Amy Otis Earhart, mother of Amelia Earhart. Most of the photographs in this collection are identified as coming from the files of Underwood & Underwood, a longtime supplier of news photographs in New York, New York.

Tar River University Neighborhood Association (TRUNA) Records

Papers (2006-2024) from the Tar River University Neighborhood Association (TRUNA) of Greenville, North Carolina. TRUNA was created in 1998 as a merger of two pre-existing neighborhood associations: The University Neighborhood Association (TUNA) and the Tar River Neighborhood Association (TRNA). Included are files of the president, minutes, correspondence, and files related to an initiative to save the neighborhood from planned ECU development by creating the East College Park Homeowners Association (later deemed unnecessary when ECU withdrew their plans related to expansion there). Some records of TUNA and TRNA activities are also included.

Collection (1800 – 1834; 1860 – 1861, 1880) consisting of a business ledger jointly compiled by the Jones, Harvey & Aitchison Co. and the McPherson & Old Co., 1800 - 1834, companies owned and operated by shareholders of the Dismal Swamp Canal Co. during the construction of the canal; also a day book compiled by William Bagley, 1860 – 1861, pertaining to operations of a general store in South Mills, NC, which also includes Elizabeth "Bettie" Bagley's private diary, January - December 1880.
