These papers (1918, 1935-2012) relate chiefly to renowned poet A. R. (Archie Randolph) Ammons and belonged to his sister Vida Ammons Cox. Included are correspondence, publications by or dedicated to A. R. Ammons, programs, posters, photographs, awards, broadsides, book reviews, audio recordings, watercolors painted by A. R. Ammons and newspaper clippings.

The Special Collections teaching collection consists of sources used for archival classroom instruction. Material within the collection was identified as out of scope for our regular collections, yet still useful as a primary or secondary source in our teaching sessions.

Papers (1915-1959) including correspondence, clippings, photographs, statistics, biographical sketches, reports, financial statements, meeting minutes, and miscellaneous.

Papers (1937-2002) including correspondence, diary, log books, newspaper clippings, military papers, photographs, identification cards and miscellaneous items related to the life of Louis Poisson Davis, Jr., a U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander during World War II serving aboard submarines USS Salmon and the USS S-18.

This collection consists of a single audio recording of the dedication ceremony for the Edward R. Murrow Transmitting Station, held on February 8, 1968. The recording documents remarks delivered by Edward R. Murrow in connection with the formal naming of the Voice of America Greenville Transmitting Station in his honor.

The papers consist of two biographies about Francis Theodore Elliot.

Papers (1927-1969, undated) including correspondence, memoirs, reports, flight records, flight log, speeches, etc. relating to the career of pioneer aviator and US Army Air Corps general during and after World War II.

Papers (undated, 1935-2000) of New Bern, NC public figure, Mutual Life Insurance Company executive, including speeches, radio talks, biographical and historical information.
