This archive covers the early life and long United States Army career of Brigadier General George T. Bowman (b. 1869 and d. 1951). His career included service (stateside) during the Spanish-American War with the New York 65th Volunteer Infantry, with various New York volunteer and regular Army units in the Philippines (1899-1904), in Cuba (1906-1909), with Gen. John Pershing on the Mexican border (1915-1916), during World War I (1918-1919), and in Germany after World War I ended. Included are correspondence, orders and other military documents, photographs, newspaper and magazine articles, maps, narratives and commentary by Bowman, and a diary.

Autographed photographs of Naval officers and prints from the U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings Cover Piuctures Series

This collection (c. 1880-2001) contains the papers of three generations of U.S. Navy officers whose service covered the years 1891 through 1963. Correspondence, orders, reports, photographs, certificates, publications, a diary, ships histories, clippings and reminiscences document their careers and that of Waldron McLellon's uncle who served in the U.S. Navy from 1934 through 1952. Waldron M. McLellon graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1941 and copious material relates to the lives of the USNA Class of 1941 members through 2001. Other papers concern the genealogy of Waldron McLellon's family.

This collection consists of a framed Evans & Cogswell lithograph facsimile [c. 1860] of the South Carolina Secession from the United States document and the framed front page of the February 28, 1863, issue of the Opelousas Courier [Louisiana] newspaper printed on wallpaper.

Papers of Mark Strand (1968-1984, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Canadian-born poet, short story writer, translator, and educator at numerous universities, including Columbia University, who served as Poet Laureate of the United States, 1990-1991; consisting of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection relating to publications by Mark Strand, printed materials, proofs & dust jackets of published works, oversized proofs & dust jackets, and manuscript typescripts.

Papers (mostly 1911-1958) consisting of correspondence, clippings, newspapers and photographs related to [Eleazer] Van Ness Harwood, Jr.'s career as a newspaper reporter, especially with The World in New York City (1899-1925), and as a publicist for people such as Mme. Marie Curie, and to his family life. Major topics documented are the Wright Brothers' 1911 flights at Kitty Hawk, N.C., and a visit by Mme. Curie to the United States in 1929 to receive a gift of one gram of radium for use in scientific research.

Papers (1935-1983) of members of USNA class of 1941, including copies of The Log, certificates, itineraries, pamphlets, a pass book, photographs, and other materials.

Photograph album documents missionary life in Bolenge, Congo Free State (now Democratic Republic of the Congo), at the Disciples of Christ Congo Mission in 1935 and 1936. Photographs also illustrate everyday life among the Indigenous people of Congolese.

Papers (1943-1945, 1957, 1990-1995) of USS Wiseman (DE-667) crewmember, including diaries, correspondence, notes, photographs, clippings and miscellany which document his World War II service.
