Joe Gladstone Norman was born on November 5, 1933 in the United States. Norman served in the US Army in Geislingen, Leipheim, Munster, Swabish Gmund, and Ulm, Germany (1956), and Austria (1955). The collection spans 1955-1962 and documents Norman's overseas service, immunizations records, and an Army Graphic Training Aid. The strength of this collection is Post World War II American military troops.

Autobiography of Joseph Greene Boyette's life from his childhood (born 1929) upbringing in eastern North Carolina until 1952 when he got out of the U.S. Navy and headed to Duke University to take classes. Boyette actually starts his memoir with some information on the extremely hard upbringing his mother (born 1903) had and also includes a section of notes that his mother wrote about the childhood experiences of her 3 boys.

(born 1817) and Caroline (born 1823) Brock family and for the Caroline Leary Brock (b. 1895, Kinston, N.C.) and Roger Neal Sutton (born 1893, La Grange, N.C.) family. This collection includes digital images of one albumen photograph of Confederate Fort Hatteras and one of Confederate Fort Clark in North Carolina. Based on the progress that had been made on U.S. modifications of the captured forts, the photographs were probably taken between November 1861 and May 1862 by a New Bern photographer.
