Williams, while serving in the United States Marine Corps, describing his voyage, aboard the USS Alaska, to the European Station under the command of Captain Samuel "Powhatan" and under the direct supervision of Captain W. R. Brown, including their cruise along the Italian coast , frequent port calls, shipboard life, behavior of sailors, and his friendships and acquaintances among the ship's crew.

This photograph (according to James R. Morgan III, a historian of African American Freemasonry) is of the United Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliation. The occasion for the meeting was the 25th Annual Session being held in New Bern, North Carolina, on October 20 - 22, 1912. Included in the photograph are Sovereign Grand Commander Robert Pendleton and Sovereign Grand Commander James F. Rickards.
Collection includes 20 World War II era U.S. Ration Books issued to Arthur G. Mangum and his family members of Walstonburg, Greene County, North Carolina. Also included are a Fuel Oil Ration Book and 3 Mileage Ration Books. These ration books document the experience of necessities being rationed during the war, and the physical description and familial connections of the people to whom the ration books were issued.
The collection consists primarily of photographic, blueprint, journals, class photos, and other advertising materials used and/or created by the Medical News & Information department of East Carolina University.

Also includes two packets of drawings of Admiral Horatio Nelson's flagship, H.M.S. VICTORY, 1970; and an article, entitled "TOP SECRET COMPHIBPAC OPERATIONS PLAN A11-45: The Story of the Invasion of Japan" by James Martin, ca. 1986.

Collection (1936, 1941-1942) consisting of a photograph album of the S.S. ZamZam, an Egyptian-owned ship, its crew and passengers, including 120 American missionaries (from 21 different denominations), tobacco buyers and other passengers traveling from New York to Alexandria, Egypt, via Capetown, South Africa, who survived sinking by the German raider Tamesis 17 April 1941, including newspaper and magazine clippings, photographs, periodicals, correspondence, and photocopies of an autobiographical account.
Papers of U.S. Navy enlisted man (1863-1864) aboard the US sloop of War Powhatan, including a private log book (Nov. 1863 - Aug. 1864), correspondence, a manuscript entitled " The Attack on Charleston," and a daguerreotype of a Civil War sailor (presumably Thomas).
Copies of letters (1920-1922) written by WIlliam Wooten to his future bride Pattie Bruce Wooten during their two year courtship while he was finishing up medical school and serving a residency at Wilson Sanatorium, Wilson, North Carolina. Later material (1923-1965) documenting their married life includes photographs, memo books, programs, and architectural drawings and blueprints for houses and a bus station (1941) in Greenville, North Carolina.
