This collection consists of the records (1938-2014) of the Betsy Dowdy Chapter (Elizabeth City, North Carolina) of the DAR. Included are thirty-nine scrapbooks (1939-2012), fourteen Constitution Week scrapbooks (1979-2008), minutes (1938-2009), executive board minutes (1988-2010), award certificates (1970s-2014), treasurers' reports and other financial records (1992-2011), publications (1938-1958), and loose items (1940s-2000s). The scrapbooks contain photographs, clippings, programs, minutes, brochures, and circulars reflecting the activities of the Betsy Dowdy Chapter.

Papers of Erskine Caldwell (1932-1982), documenting the life and literary career of the noted Coweta County, Georgia-born, American novelist of the rural poor in the American South; consisting primarily of his correspondence with Robert Cantwell; also Paul C. Richards, Autographs' description of the letters and Stuart Wright's correspondence with Paul C. Richards, Autographs relating to purchase of the letters.

Papers (1819-1872) of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a Washington, N.C., lawyer until the outbreak of the Civil War. He was commissioned a captain in the Confederate Army in 1861 and served at Fort Hatteras until he was taken prisoner by Union forces in August of that year. After the war he returned to Washington and represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly in 1870 and 1881. Papers include correspondence, military papers, prisoner of war diary kept at Fort Warren, Massachusetts, articles, essays, speeches, accounts, clippings, genealogical notes, and Sparrow family Bible records. Also included are letters (1858-1881) written by Thomas Sparrow's son George Attmore Sparrow (1845-1922) to him describing life in Okaw/Arcola, Illinois, at Hillsborough Military Academy, in military service as a Confederate soldier, and in his post-war life as a farmer and lawyer and later as a Presbyterian minister.

Oral history interview with John Gilmer (1925-2014) where he discusses his recollections from the time period 1942-1945 while serving in the United States Navy B-1 Band. Papers (1862-1885) consisting of diary, with description of camp, confederate and activities of knights of Golden Circle.

Collection (1733-1943) consisting primarily of Stallings family papers, deeds, land surveys, wills, a Bible record, newspapers, clippings and miscellaneous.

This collection (1913, 1926, undated) of notes, correspondence, and reports were found in a book titled A City Plan for Raleigh : Being a Report to the Civic Department of the Woman's Club of Raleigh, N. C. / by Charles Mulford Robinson published in 1913. Included are a report related to the civic beautification plan for Raleigh, North Carolina (ca. 1913); a letter (1926) from E. B. Jeffress, mayor of Greensboro, NC, describing recent civic improvements; and a 1926 Report of Conditions on Newbern Ave. and Hillsboro Street in Raleigh, by T. L. Mulford for the North Carolina State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Collection contains receipts from Nowell's Drug Store in Wendell, North Carolina. The receipts are from ordering medicinal and general supplies between 1915 and 1937.
