This collection contains materials (1987-2002) related to the National Maritime Alliance from its beginning as a proposal in 1987 and its formal founding in 1988. Included are correspondence, by-laws, minutes, grant applications, trust proposal, incorporation documents, conference materials, and reports. The Alliance represents a diverse group of museums, historic preservation groups, businesses and individuals all devoted to preserving our maritime heritage. Dr. Runyan has been on the Board of Directors for a number of years.

This collection consists of an autograph book possibly kept by Elizabeth Williams while she was attending Greenville High School in Greenville, North Carolina. The entries have dates for 1942 and 1943. Besides having comments and poems written by her girlfriends, there are also entries written by members of the military forces (during World War II) and a listing of local men and what branch of the military they belong to. This autograph book was found in the attic of 2707 E. Third St. in Greenville, N.C.

William B. Jarvis papers (ca. 1822 - 1919, undated) including family bible records, clippings, genealogical notes, photographs, cipher book, and a periodical relating to the Jarvis, Brooks, Monk, Parker, and Wallace families, Memorial Baptist Church (Greenville, NC), and the Monumental Bronze Company.

Collection (1763-2013) including correspondence, financial records, legal records, clippings, land records, photographs, clippings, poetry, genealogy and miscellaneous files compiled by William L. Murphy related to genealogy research in Eastern North Carolina.

Papers of William Alexander Percy (2016) concerning the wealthy Greenville, Mississippi-raised planter, lawyer, noted poet and memoirist, whose father, Leroy Percy, served as U. S. Senator from Mississippi, 1910-1913; consisting of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection volume of Percy's poems, entitled Enzio's Kingdom and Other Poems; also Stuart Wright's note that he gave the book to commemorate George Core's retirement as editor of Sewanee Review (2016); also Stuart Wright's email correspondence with Percy's biographer, Benjamin E. Wise, and East Carolina University faculty members, Thomas Douglass, and Maurice C. York regarding Wise's collection of works by Percy (2016).

This collection contains 539 letters (1943-1945) written by Jack Ladd Carr (1924-2010) to his family in Pennsylvania while he was stationed in Fort Jackson (South Carolina) for basic training, in Camp San Luis Obispo and Camp Pendleton in California, and the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Carr joined the U.S. Army in March 1943 and returned to the United States in December of 1945. He was involved in attacks on Anguar Island and took part in Operation Forager.

Papers (1973-1977) of counselor at the Tideland Mental Health Center, Washington, N.C., who was imprisoned on drug related charges in Mexico, 1973-1975 consisting of correspondence, clippings, playboy magazine, abusive treatment of prisoners, etc.

Papers (1925-1974, undated) consisting of diaries, correspondence, photographs, certificates, citations, newspaper, clippings, magazine articles, etc. and miscellaneous.

Papers (1947-1960) including correspondence, references concern Bible, auditing of books, school events, receipts, pilgrims, and miscellaneous.

Collection (1799-1897, 1913) including correspondence, 1835-1897, 1913, and financial records, 1799-1894, of New Bern, NC merchant, whose store was used by Union troops, and who was appointed "Superintendent of Poor Whites" for Craven County, NC.

This collection contains the papers of Halifax Co., North Carolina, Superior Court Clerk John Tillery Gregory (1832-1905) and also includes correspondence with his sister and his children. Gregory operated a store with W. W. Daniels, was Clerk of Superior Court for many years, was town treasurer, and fought in the Civil War with Co G of the 12th North Carolina State Troops. The son of Dr. Thomas Wynns Gregory and Mary Tillery Gregory, he was married to Ellen Augusta Clarke and they had nine children.
