This collection consists of 48 deeds (1801-1907), legal documents and notes related to land ownership in Pitt County, North Carolina, in the area that became Ayden. The documents pertain mainly to the Harris, McGlohon/McLawhorn, and Cannon families, especially William Henry Harris, the founder of Ayden. Also included are a blueprint plat of Ayden (June 21, 1890) and copies of 2 clippings (1991-1992) about the founding of Ayden. Additional items which have been placed in the East Carolina University Archives are a 1915 yearbook for East Carolina Teachers Training School (now ECU), a 1915 folded card for the Junior-Senior Reception at ECTTS, and a calling card all belonging to ECTTS student Katherine (Kate or Katie) Eugenia Sawyer. This collection is donated by the family of John William Sawyer.

Papers (1705-1983, undated) including correspondence, diaries, genealogical records, legal and financial records, club records, photographs, clippings, surveys, and miscellaneous.

The Goldsboro Messenger Map of North Carolina, 1879, with Beaufort Harbor Inset Map, (New York, NY: G. W. C. B. Colton Co.) was a foldout map contained in a handbook given as a premium to subscribers of the Goldsboro Messenger. The handbook contains useful information about North Carolina.

Professional and personal correspondence, newspaper clippings, press releases, reports, and miscellany for the period 1944 through 2011, bulk dates 1962 to 1982, related to the career of Janice Hardison Faulkner at East Carolina University, with the Democratic Party in North Carolina and as the holder of several high level positions in North Carolina government.

This collection contains a journal (November 21, 1894 – February 28, 1896) kept by Gilbert Smith Galbraith while he was serving as a U.S. Naval Cadet on board the USS Columbia. The USS Columbia was a Second Line Cruiser first commissioned on April 23, 1894, serving in the U.S. Navy until it was sold for scrap on January 23, 1922. Galbraith includes detailed technical descriptions of the ship and its components along with diagrams, blueprints, scale plans, maps, photographic prints, cyanotypes and various ephemera. Additionally, Galbraith records the ship's activities from November 21, 1894, to February 28, 1896.

This collection contains yearbooks (1953-1964) for the Greenville Music Club (Greenville, North Carolina) and a program for the 41st Annual Convention (May 8-11, 1957) of the North Carolina Federation of Music Clubs.

Photograph album documenting the travels (1951) of the USS Seiverling through stops in Pearl Harbor, Midway, Japan, and probably Hong Kong, participation in the Taiwan Strait Patrol, and bombardments near Songjin, North Korea. Photographs depict not only the activities of the sailors, but also activities of the local people. Also included are photographs of other U.S. Navy ships, and small boats carrying surrendering North Koreans.

Material includes annual reports, data sheets, programs, sound recordings, publications, and correspondence related to the operation of the School of Music.

Brief history of ECU English Professor Alice Lucille Turner's involvement (1929-1948) with the Greenville (North Carolina) Chapter of the AAUW, photocopies of scrapbook newspaper clippings (1932-1936) about the Greenville Chapter, and material produced by the National Office (1929-1963) to be disseminated to the chapters.

Papers (ca. 1942-1945) pertaining primarily to the 7th amphibious Force, Beach Party #5, in the Central Pacific during World War II, including personnel and operations file, terrain study handbooks, histories of the 7th amphibious Force, clippings, photographs, certificates and miscellany.

This collection contains the history of the Service League of Greenville, North Carolina (1951-2023). Present in the collection are the records of the organization, scrapbooks and photographs, uniforms worn by members, membership rosters, posters, clippings, and a cookbook. The material present in the collection includes both physical items and digital files.

This collection (1850-1969; bulk 1860-1889) of papers belonging to Wilmington, New Hanover County, NC, attorneys, who were father and son and both named Marsden Bellamy, includes wills, deeds, estate and mortgage records, legal briefs, correspondence, insurance policies, account books, loan records, receipts of payment, agreements and other legal records.

The ship's log of the US Brig Porpoise, dated 19 February 1845 to 16 June 1846, was kept during a cruise from New York to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It details navigational statistics, weather reports, sightings and hailing of other ships, and punishments of crew infractions. The author was probably Midshipman Benjamin Lee Henderson and the log was signed in fifteen places by Lt. Commander William E. Hunt.
