This collection contains twenty-four pages of genealogical notes related to Beaufort County, N.C., families including Bonner, Snoad, Smallwood, and Latham written by Lucretia Hughes of Washington, N.C.; and a scrapbook of "About Town" columns (1946-1947) written by Penelope Bogart (Rodman) as a teenager for the Washington Daily News published in Washington, N.C. Also included are two typescripts of interviews done in 1938 with a mill worker at Glen Raven Cotton Mill in Burlington, N.C., and with a woman who ran a lodging house in Raleigh, N.C.; and an undated typescript titled "Description of Mill Village" about life on Factory Hill where many of the Asheville Cotton Mill workers lived. The interview with the woman in Raleigh also includes her experiences during the Civil War in Wake County, N.C. In addition, there is an errata of corrections to Van Camp's Images of America: Washington, North Carolina and a Bible containing family history information.

Papers (1966-1992, undated) of Carol Leigh Humphries, a Southern Baptist Conference missionary woman from Person County, North Carolina, including letters to family and friends in North Carolina documenting her career as a missionary in Jos, Kaduma and other locations in Nigeria, British West Africa; newspaper clippings related to Humphries' missionary work; also genealogical notes of Mrs. Emma H. Blalock.

This collection contains minutes from several eastern North Carolina Primitive Baptist churches including Mill Branch (1882-1998) and Nashville (1896-1983) churches in Nash County, Briery Swamp Church (1991-2006), and Kehukee (1971-1994) and Contentnea (October 1985) Primitive Baptist Associations. Other records include expense accounts and correspondence for Mill Branch Church; Bible records for the Barnhill family; correspondence and publications relating to a schism (1979) between Elder David Spangler and Brethren Eldon Gilbert and St. Clair Graham of Ontario, Canada; forms and clippings related to the Norfolk and Briery Creek Associations; and miscellaneous items.

The Kayaitchess (1924) Vol. 1, published by the students of Kinston High School, Kinston, North Carolina, and the Connecting Link Commencement Issue 1926, published every other week by students of Kinston City Schools under the Supervision of Committee of Teachers have been transferred to the North Carolina Collection and have been catalogued.

Papers (1830-2011, undated [bulk 1830-1973]) relating to the Young – Spicer family of Fredericks Hall, Louisa County, Virginia and related families living in Virginia, Mississippi and Louisiana, including correspondence relating to the civil war, businesses, taxes & family matters; journals, photographic prints; genealogical and historical files and a listing of the gravestones in the Young-Spicer Cemetery at the family home, "Locust Grove" at Fredericks Hall, Virginia. This collection consists of a book that has late 1700s Tison family birth, marriage, and death dates on the fly leafs and on the margins of pages. The book is titled, An Alarm to Unconverted Sinners in a Serious Treatise and was written by Joseph Alleine, late Minister of the Gospel at Taunton in Somersetshire [England], in 1672. This edition is the 1767 Boston, N.E. [New England] printing. On page 224 of the book is written, "Jonathan Tison his book baught [sic] January the 18 day 1775. The price 5S." The book is probably from the Farmville, North Carolina, area.
