Two minute books (September 1874-January 1949) for the Conoho Primitive Baptist Church that was located near Oak City, Martin County, North Carolina. The church was founded in 1794 by former members of Flat Swamp Church. The church building was torn down ca. 1970, leaving a cemetery still in existence.

On January 14, 2009, Dale Sauter (Grant Project Director) and Chris Oakley (Grant Historian) interviewed David J. Whichard II and Stuart Savage. Both Whichard and Savage have been at the Daily Reflector for most of their lives. Whichard's grandfather and his grandfather's brother founded the newspaper in the late 1800s. Savage retired in March 2009 with fifty years at the newspaper. They have both been involved in the newspaper in many capacities, including Whichard as one time publisher, and Savage as photographer. What makes this interview so special are the reflections of both Whichard and Savage about their experiences at the newspaper and in the Greenville area. Obviously, many changes have occurred since the start of the careers and the present day. These changes include both the physical processes, as well as the whole nature of the newspaper business. During this time there have also been dramatic and sweeping social transformations in Greenville that also mirror changes that occurred on a state and national level. This collection contains the written works of Dr. Henry Merritt Stenhouse, a U.S. Naval doctor. The written works detail his life as a naval doctor while in China and Japan (1918) and thoughts towards the Russian Revolution, the Chinese revolution, and their culture. It also gives detailed accounts of some illnesses, diseases, and injuries treated by Dr. Henry Stenhouse as well as his life as a medical student at the University of Colorado.

Diary and military records of Carter Berkeley Simpson (1915-1944). Includes a typescript of a diary and a facsimile of the diary. The facsimile includes photographs, military records, receipts of letters, correspondence, and a description of daily routine activities during Simpson's service and as a prisoner of war.

This collection contains correspondence (1841-1937) received by members of the May family of Farmville, Pitt County, N.C., including letters written from Michigan and Tennessee; receipts, promissory notes, and judgments (1813-1910); financial documents (1820s-1920), and account books (1819-1830s). Other material includes grade reports and tuition receipts for Farmville Academy (1899-1900), Farmville Seminary (1887-1888), and Farmville High School (1891, 1900); deeds and other land records (1760-1891), some of which refer to the Flake and Shivers families in Pitt County; a list Black enslaved men, women, and children that includes their birthdates (1830s-1850s) and their mothers' names; catalogs for Trenton High School (1897), St. Mary's School in Raleigh (1842), and Trinity School in Chocowinity (1907/1908); and a 1900 reward poster for the man who robbed R. L. Davis & Brothers of Farmville. Miscellaneous publications include among others The Primitive Baptist (1853-1860, 1870-1872), almanacs, telephone directories (1934 Greenville, 1930 Farmville), a 1919 Chicago war camp community service publication, and The Southern Women of the Second American Revolution . . . by H. W. R. [Jackson, 1863].

Thomas R. Lundin was born March 24, 1982, in Madison, Wisconsin. After completing high school in 2000 in Greenville, North Carolina, he joined the U.S. Army and served as an Apache Helicopter crew chief for 3rd Infantry Division in Kuwait during the Iraqi War of 2003. This collection contains papers, a diary, maps, military manuals, and ephemera related to his service, especially during the Iraqi War.

This collection (1823-1999) contains the papers of Robert "Bob" Boyd Robinson III. Robinson, born in 1948 in Halifax County, N.C., was a member of various groups including the Sons of the Revolution in the State of North Carolina. His papers include materials related to various families of Northeastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia.

This collection contains correspondence, publications, membership rosters, information about awards and events, and meeting minutes for East Carolina's chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

This collection consists of original photographs, photographic prints (copies), negatives and proof sheets (ca. 1890-1900, 1950s -1970s) documenting history in and around the area of Murfreesboro, North Carolina. These consist primarily of images of businesses, buildings, boats and ferries, mills, cemeteries and gravestones, architectural features of interest, churches, schools, people and historical houses.
