Letters (20 November 1862 – 20 January 1863) from two brothers -- Alfred Howard Kinsley of Co. H, of the 45th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Militia) and Thomas Kinsley, serving in Co. A, -- from Camp Amory on the Trent River, North Carolina, to Edward Wilkinson Kinsley, a Boston merchant, Abolitionist, Government agent and military recruiter, who was probably their relative, and primarily concerning their service in Brig. Gen. John G. Foster's Expedition to Goldsboro, NC, including the First Battle of Kinston and the Battle of Whitehall, NC, 13 – 14, 16 December 1862. Autograph letters signed.

Includes a complete set of the monthly periodical, The Medical World, for the year 1908.

Papers (1858-1910) including correspondence, financial materials, common medical procedures, payments, tax listings, correspondence from insurance companies, patient entries, etc.

Lecture notes, business accounts, newspaper articles, military papers, and artifacts of the Garrenton Family. The Garrentons include: James Francis Garrenton (1839-1913), Cecil (1883-1935), and Connell (1910-1985). They established the Bethel Clinic near Greenville, North Carolina.

Collection (12 February 1864) consisting of a letter from Pvt. James Addison Lowrie, Company D of the 57th North Carolina Infantry, at Kinston, NC, to his brother Robert [of Brunswick County, NC], reporting on his good health, the poor mail service, the lack of news, the growing dissatisfaction among "the boys", the recent desertion of 14 men from the 21st Regiment North Carolina Infantry, and the Kinston Hangings, the hanging, on 12 February 1864, of five men who had deserted the Confederate Army and been recaptured: Amos Amyett, Mitchell Busick, Lewis Bryan, William Irving and John Staley; after deserting, the men had joined the 2nd North Carolina Union Volunteers and been captured on 1 February 1864, at Beech Grove; also transcript of letter; also digital copy.

Roosevelt and Vice President John N. During the Civil War, Abijah Hollis of New Hampshire served with the 45th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers as a second lieutenant in Company B under Colonel Charles R. Codman with heavy involvement in the North Carolina campaign, and in the 56th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers. This collection consists of a typescript entitled STORIES OF THE WAR, FROM PERSONAL RECOLLECTIONS AND DIARIES, For My Children, A. Hollis, West Concord, N.H., January, 1884, and a transcriptrion by the donor with photographs; photocopies of official "carded medical records" for Hollis (1863-1864); copies of photographs of Hollis in uniform during the Civil War taken while stationed in New Berne (now New Bern), North Carolina, in his Union uniform with captain bars, in 1908-1910; and copies of photographs of Hollis's wife Harriette, his U.S. cartridge case, and his belt buckle used during the Civil War.

Collection (1945-circa 1980s, undated) of clippings, photographs, Christmas cards, World War II ration books, relating to the Parker family, "Pitch a Boogie Woogie" a film with an all-black cast, the Corner Stone Baptist Church, and Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church of Greenville, North Carolina.

Papers (1889, 1907-1958) consisting of correspondence, diaries, yearbooks, scrapbook, songbook, typescript, travel accounts, photographs, newsletters, etc., related to attendance at Salem Academy and College (1908-1911) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and to the work (1917 to 1950) of Protestant Episcopal music missionary Venetia Cox (of Greenville, North Carolina) in China. Also includes letters and school materials related to Lo-I (or Louis) Yin who attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, from 1949 to 1951 on a scholarship related to Venetia Cox's music missionary work with Huachung University, Wuchang, Hupeh, China.
