This photograph album documents mission trips in the 1920s to Mozambique, Zambia, to Pretoria, Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River, and Portugal.

This collection contains materials (1987-2002) related to the National Maritime Alliance from its beginning as a proposal in 1987 and its formal founding in 1988. Included are correspondence, by-laws, minutes, grant applications, trust proposal, incorporation documents, conference materials, and reports. The Alliance represents a diverse group of museums, historic preservation groups, businesses and individuals all devoted to preserving our maritime heritage. Dr. Runyan has been on the Board of Directors for a number of years.

The collection consists of reports, publications, advertising materials, and photographs used and/or created by the ECU College of Nursing.

Papers (1867-1869, 1885) of Quaker, who refused to serve in Civil War and who became a tax assessor and farmer near Kinston, NC, and state business agent and treasurer for the NC Farmers' Alliance, 1894-1900, consisting of letterpress book, financial records, Republican party politics, security notes and press, store account.

Papers (1861-1918) including correspondence referring family papers, Civil War letters.

Papers (1805-1889, 1961-1963) of a wealthy, Elizabeth City, NC business family, consisting of correspondence, legal records, financial records, genealogical papers, Civil War events, letters, wedding gift, labor strikes and miscellaneous.

This collection contains 539 letters (1943-1945) written by Jack Ladd Carr (1924-2010) to his family in Pennsylvania while he was stationed in Fort Jackson (South Carolina) for basic training, in Camp San Luis Obispo and Camp Pendleton in California, and the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Carr joined the U.S. Army in March 1943 and returned to the United States in December of 1945. He was involved in attacks on Anguar Island and took part in Operation Forager.

Papers (1973-1977) of counselor at the Tideland Mental Health Center, Washington, N.C., who was imprisoned on drug related charges in Mexico, 1973-1975 consisting of correspondence, clippings, playboy magazine, abusive treatment of prisoners, etc.

This collection contains the records of the Friends of Portsmouth Island including minutes (1990-2016), correspondence, by-laws, 1994 incorporation documents, grant documents, and issues (1991-2016) of their newsletter Doctor's Creek Journal. Also included are documents related to Homecomings at Portsmouth Village (1980, 1992-2016), a DVD produced by the National Geographic Society titled "Portsmouth: Island with a Soul," and a DVD of a project done by UNC-Chapel Hill students titled "Portsmouth—In Search of the Past."
