Collection (1800 – 1834; 1860 – 1861, 1880) consisting of a business ledger jointly compiled by the Jones, Harvey & Aitchison Co. and the McPherson & Old Co., 1800 - 1834, companies owned and operated by shareholders of the Dismal Swamp Canal Co. during the construction of the canal; also a day book compiled by William Bagley, 1860 – 1861, pertaining to operations of a general store in South Mills, NC, which also includes Elizabeth "Bettie" Bagley's private diary, January - December 1880.

Personal files created by Pitt County, North Carolina, native Mary Perkins-Williams relate to the Pitt County Black Assembly (1979, 1983), NAACP Legal Defense (1980), regional development (1977-1979), minority issues, and fair housing. Audio-Visual Materials include photographs of scrapbook images (ca. 1950s) documenting both abandoned and active Pitt County, North Carolina, African American public schools. Also included are seven videocassettes documenting a grant-funded oral history project completed in 1994 entitled Growing up African-American in Pitt County.

Papers (1920-1973) consisting of correspondence, newsletters, letters, Congolese Civil War, biographical notes, pamphlets, magazine articles, travel narratives, etc.

Records (1939-2009) of the North Carolina Huguenot Society including membership applications, membership records, meeting agendas, minutes, invitations, constitution, by-laws, treasury reports, correspondence, and publications.

Various unrelated items (1862-1865) concerning the Civil War including two 1862 letters, an 1865 oath of allegiance, Harper's Weekly lithographs (1862), an Atlantic and North Carolina Railroad Company 1862 statement, an 1862 $1000 Civil War bond from North Carolina;, and photocopies of a memoir written about fifty years after the war and transcribed in 1978, an 1862 letter and an 1863 circular.

Collection consists of a photograph album with leather decorative cover belonging to James R. Coles, an African American who served in the U.S. Navy Reserve during World War II. Accompanying paperwork and insignia badges (1943-1944) indicates he was a motor machinist's mate and was appointed apprentice petty officer first class. The album contains mostly unidentified photographs of African American sailors in training, aboard a train, and with possible girlfriends and family. Two shots also depict the sailors with their white commanding officer. Also included are autograph pages that his fellow sailors signed and listed their home addresses.

Papers (1973-1977) of counselor at the Tideland Mental Health Center, Washington, N.C., who was imprisoned on drug related charges in Mexico, 1973-1975 consisting of correspondence, clippings, playboy magazine, abusive treatment of prisoners, etc.

This collection contains political brochures, posters, and mailings (1990s-2020) related to mainly Greenville, Pitt County, North Carolina and U.S. Congressional races although some relate to Presidential elections. The focus is on Democratic Party candidates, but also includes some items related to Republican Party rivals.

Papers (1945-1977) consisting of correspondence, letters, clippings, newsletters, issues of U.S. Farm news and miscellaneous.

Michael J. Zagray was a cook aboard a U.S. Naval vessel during the early 1960s. The collection spans the years 1954-1963. It includes 69 black and white, 8" x 10" photographic prints and 3 mimeographed typescripts on the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission meetings held at MAC HQ Area, Korea, in 1963 and 1 mimeographed typescript on "Unusual Joint Duty Officers' Meetings" from 1 January 1954 to 1 October 1963.

Papers of the Historic Halifax Garden Association include official documents (1975-1999) such as the constitution and by-laws, papers regarding tax-exempt status and a photocopy of the check handing over the remaining assets of the association to the Historical Halifax Restoration Association; two secretarial notebooks (1981-1989); a guestbook used at the opening of the Restored Eagle Tavern in Historic Halifax (June 29, 1981) and records belonging to past president Gwen B. Dickens (1975, 1979-1989) such as orders of business, attendance records, membership dues records, correspondence and material related to projects.

USNA Class of 1924 scrapbook kept by John Thompson Warren (1901-1958) contains mainly photographs particularly concerning his 1921 cruise on the USS Kansas and his 1922 cruise on the USS Florida, but also contains a few documents and clippings.

This map titled "North Carolina" was drawn by Anthony Finley of Philadelphia, PA. It was published as part of his "A New General Atlas, Comprising a Complete Set of Maps, representing the Grand Divisions of the Globe, Together with the several Empires, Kingdoms and States in the World; Compiled from the Best Authorities, and corrected by the Most Recent Discoveries," Philadelphia, 1824, and engraved by Young and Delleker.
