Collection (1910-1987) consisting of photocopies of bulletin, program, histories, biographical sketches, and issue of Pine Ridge Booster relating to Alvan Drew School in Pine Ridge, Kentucky.

The Ephemera Collection contains items that were found in the Laupus Library History Collection that could not be identified to belong to a specific collection. It includes replica Confederate currency from Mississippi.

Papers (1863-1961) including correspondence; diary; family histories; recollection; description of prisoners playing games, making furniture, jewelry, beer; reading newspaper, letters, etc.

Papers (1821-1908, undated) including certificates, legal papers, letters, sale of personal property, disbursements by estate, teaching certificates, addresses, and statement of account (1881).

The majority of the collection relates to Captain Leslie Avery Shaw's military service in the U.S. Army, especially during World War II when he served in the 11th AAA, 49th AAA Brigade, VII Corps, U.S. First Army in Europe. Included are maps and overlays concerning operations at Utah Beach at Normandy, orders, citations, reports, photographs, letters, postcards, military ribbons and insignia, and items from his personal military file. Additional items including many photographs document his personal life after the war. Photographs, printed material and memorabilia from the 1950s and early 1960s relate to the early years of his son Robert Avery Shaw's life in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Papers (1914-1972, undated) consisting of correspondence, reports, clippings, minutes, publications, speeches, affidavits, court rulings, legal briefs, trial proceedings, etc.

The collection contains a photograph album belonging to Bobby D. Norman, a member of the famed Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. The album contains 53 black and white photographs, a portrait of Bobby D. Norman, and a hand-written letter addressed to Norman from his Japanese girlfriend.

The collection includes materials (1898-1959) documenting the work of Shackleford Banks native Josiah Clark Chadwick working on freighters running from North Carolina to New York, and then with the Army Corps of Engineers in North Carolina (1927-1959) working the Eastern N.C. federal waterway projects on diesel engines and then inspecting dredges. Included are family history, Chadwick's work history, training materials, engineers' level books, logbooks, and inventories of engineering property in Chadwick's charge.

Records (1944-2008) of the North Carolina Council For The Social Studies include a constitution, organization history, committee reports, minutes, agenda, newsletters, rosters, memos, programs, clippings, and miscellany.

Register (1908-1913) including hotel register, information about hotel guests, arguments between two parties, etc.

Minutes, programs, correspondence, journals, reprints, reports, posters, and miscellaneous records (1902-2016) documenting the North Carolina Academy of Science.

Photographs and negatives of African American minstrel show performers (most, if not all, are members of Silas Green from New Orleans show) both on and off stage. These negatives and photographs were made from the originals (1932-1942, undated) in 1998 and the whereabouts of the originals are unknown. Charles Morton starred as Little Charlie Morton Jr. with the Silas Green from New Orleans tent travelling show and posters listed him as Silas Green's youngest star.

Records (1936-2024) including correspondence, historical writings, letterhead, address lists, membership applications with supporting documents, minutes, financial records, brochures, pamphlets, periodicals and yearbooks of the North Carolina Chapter and The Gazette of the General Society of Colonial Wars, the Society of the Daughters of Colonial Wars in the State of North Carolina yearbooks and the by-laws and yearbooks of the General Society of Colonial Wars.

Collection (1852-2014) includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, printed materials, and other items compiled by retired East Carolina University English professor emeritus Dr. Ralph Hardee Rives (1930-2016) relating primarily to the Hardee - Rives and related families of North Carolina and the United Kingdom, the history of Eastern North Carolina (especially Halifax County and the town of Enfield), the United Methodist Church in Eastern North Carolina, state and local and national politics, and his charitable and philanthropic interests. The earliest original documents cover the period from 1852 through the Civil War and World War I.
