Papers of Richard Wilbur (1948-2008, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted New York City-born American poet, translator, and educator at Wesleyan University and Smith College, who was associated with the New Formalist movement, and who became poet laureate of the United States; including correspondence with John Ciardi, W. S. Merwin, and Louis Untermeyer, manuscript typescripts, audio recordings, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, printed materials, proofs of published materials, and oversized printed and photographic materials.

This collection consists of the records of the Long Leaf Opera Company which was founded in 1998 in Durham, N.C., by artistic director and playwright Dr. Wallace Randolph Umberger, Jr., and musical director and composer Mr. Benjamin Franklin Keaton and disbanded in 2012 due to the death of Dr. Umberger. Included are librettos and musical scores, scrapbooks, CDs, DVDs of performances, programs, photographs, promotional material, financial records, correspondence and clippings. A large portion (ca. 1950s-1997) of this collection also documents the pre-Long Leaf Opera Company careers of Umberger and Keaton. Included are manuscripts for plays, novels, musical comedies, and poetry written by Umberger, musical scores for an opera and muscial comedies written by Keaton, programs for productions they participated in, publications, photographs, and correspondence (some is from Paul Green).

Collection consists of five scrapbooks containing items related to the life of Judge Oliver H. Allen (b. March 20, 1850, Wake Co., N.C.; raised in Duplin Co., N.C.; d. December 16, 1925, Kinston, N.C.) and his ancestors and descendants. The date span covered is 1826 to 1980. Of particular interest are items related to Judge Allen's life, the Hicks family of Granville Co., N.C. (1826-1832 and photocopies of documents for late 1700s), the WWI service of William A. Allen and Judge Allen's sons Matthew H. Allen and Reynold Tatum Allen, and the lives of Judge Allen's daughter Martha Allen Barnes and her daughter Sarah Allen Barnes who married Benjamin Bruce Sugg, Jr. Items include clippings, correspondence, Oxford Academy and Trinity College student materials, photographs, resolutions, WWI military records, funeral bulletins, booklets, prints, and postcards. Additionally the collection contains courting correspondence (1912-1914) written by a Naval officer from Lenoir Co., N.C., while stationed aboard ships, at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and at Vera Cruz, Mexico.

This collection (1850-1988) includes records pertaining to Whitaker's Chapel, a Methodist Church near Enfield in Northeastern North Carolina, and minutes (1848-1939) of the Methodist Protestant Church's Roanoke Circuit to which it belonged.

Personal files created by Pitt County, North Carolina, native Mary Perkins-Williams relate to the Pitt County Black Assembly (1979, 1983), NAACP Legal Defense (1980), regional development (1977-1979), minority issues, and fair housing. Audio-Visual Materials include photographs of scrapbook images (ca. 1950s) documenting both abandoned and active Pitt County, North Carolina, African American public schools. Also included are seven videocassettes documenting a grant-funded oral history project completed in 1994 entitled Growing up African-American in Pitt County.

Collection includes a letter written by Ann Elizabeth Bogart, Washington, N.C., to "My dear Aunt," January 8, 1865, describing wartime conditions in Washington, N.C., and vicinity, a 2-page partial transcription of the letter, a tintype of a woman (possibly Ann Elizabeth Bogart), and two color images of the gravestone for Ann Bogart and the plot where she is buried in Washington, N.C. Also included are research materials concerning David Nevius Bogart of Washington, N.C., and related to the Bogart, Biggs, O'Cain, Lucas, Bonner, Peyton, and Snoad families of Beaufort County, N.C. Photographs, genealogy notes, Bible records, and correspondence relate to the Smallwood, Williams, and Hassell families of Williamston, N.C. Letters related to brothers Will and Bruce Smallwood discuss Will's travels and death (1918) in Alaska and Bruce's life and death (after 1894) in Mexico.

This collection contains genealogy files compiled by Elizabeth (Betsy) Ross of Greenville, North Carolina, primarily related to families in Beaufort, Craven, Martin, and Pitt Counties, North Carolina. These files include individual family files containing family sheets and genealogy notes, plus abstracts of public records that she did from microfilm and the actual records, and notebooks of genealogy notes that include indexes to their information.

Collection (1803-1996) pertaining to Martin County, NC, farmer John Conrad Getsinger, Sr., (Nov. 4, 1812-Jan. 16, 1891), a native of Wurttemburg, Germany, and several of his descendants consisting of correspondence, memoranda books, a sketchbook created by Mr. Getsinger while he was a soldier (1847-1848) fighting in the Mexican War, financial records, Civil War records pertaining to Mr. Getsinger and his son John C. Getsinger, Jr., religious publications, Primitive Baptist Church records (especially for Smithwick's Creek Primitive Baptist Church), pamphlets, broadsides, photographs, legal papers, newspaper clippings, and miscellany.
