Papers of Mel Ellis (1967) documenting the life and literary career of the Waukesha, Wisconsin-born American novelist who specialized in Wisconsin regional outdoor topics; consisting of an unrevised, uncorrected, spiral bound, proof of his novel Run, Rainey, Run: The Stormy Story of a Dog(1967); the manuscript had formerly been titled Strange Love Affair: The Stormy Story of a Dog.

This collection consists of the records of the Institute of Outdoor Theatre which was founded in 1963 and includes material related to over 600 outdoor theatres, some of which began operation in the 1920s. Included are play scripts, correspondence, clippings, publicity material, video and audio recordings, feasibility studies, publications, reel-to-reel tapes, 35 mm slides, blueprints, and audition-related materials. This collection is being processed with the support of a National Historical Publications and Records Commission grant.

Papers of Merrill Moore (1929–1987, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Columbia, Tennessee-born American poet, physician and psychiatrist, who became a leader and spokesman for the Fugitive Group of Southern poets that included Robert Penn Warren and Allen Tate, among others; including correspondence, manuscript materials, printed materials and loose manuscript materials from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

Papers of James Dickey (1950-1994) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Atlanta, Georgia-born American poet, novelist and essayist, including correspondence, manuscripts, photographic prints, proofs of published works, reviews of published materials, printed material, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection and oversized materials, by or about James Dickey, Louis Untermeyer, and others.

Papers of William [Morris] Meredith, Jr. (1964-1983) documenting the life and literary career of the noted New York City-born American poet and educator at various universities including Connecticut College; consisting of materials mainly pertaining to The Cheer, by William Meredith (1980); including notes, manuscript typescripts, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection and oversized proofs.

Papers of Heather McHugh (1981) documenting the life and literary career the noted San Diego, California-born, Canadian-American poet, translator, educator, who became Writer-in-Residence, 1984-2011, and, since 2011, Pollock Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Washington, Seattle; consisting of the corrected galley proofs for her book of poems, entitled A World of Difference: Poems (1981); filed oversized.

Papers of Michael Mewshaw (1984) documenting the life and literary career of the Washington, DC-born American novelist, travel writer, literary critic, tennis reporter and creative writing educator at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and the University of Texas, Austin, where he directed the creative writing program; consisting of bound uncorrected proofs for Year of the Gun (1984), one of Mewshaw's best-known novels.

Captain Richard E. Foster of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1941 comments on student life at the Academy, his wartime assignments on the USS PENNSYLVANIA and the USS INDIANA, his postwar duty on the USS WRIGHT, and his years as a naval engineer involved in ship design, planning, and production. He also describes witnessing the flag-raising at Iwo Jima from the deck of the USS VICKSBURG.

Includes a ledger used as a scrapbook (1930-1934) kept by Annie Higgs Duncan (wife of Herman Henry Duncan) of Greenville, North Carolina, documenting the life of her family including son Richard and daughter Mary Ann. Also includes two children's books A Child's Garden of Verses (1928 edition inscribed to Richard and Mary Ann) and Picture Book of Fairy Tales (1930).

This collection (1791-1960) documents the horse and mule business, farm operations, land transactions, saw mill operation, and other business enterprises of Edward Cyrus Winslow (b. 1886) of Tarboro, Edgecombe County, N.C. Included in the collection are correspondence, financial and legal records such as account books, ledgers, bills and receipts, contracts with other mule dealers, promissory notes, agricultural liens and chattel mortgages, deeds, and lease and rental agreements. Also included are superior court records, blueprints of farm tracts and dairy equipment, printed material, business and family photographs, and a small quantity of family correspondence.

This Record Group contains the records of the College of Health and Human Performance.
