This collection contains two artifacts excavated at the Cape Creek site (Croatan), Buxton, Dare County, North Carolina, in 1998 during the Croatan Archaeological Project, East Carolina University Professor Emeritus David Sutton Phelps, Director. The artifacts are a signet ring engraved with a "lion passant," prancing lion, crest (Specimen Acc. No. 1283-1297) with dimensions: 0.75" (l) x 0.5" (w) x 0.25" (d) and weight: 0.25 oz.; and a musket firing lock (Specimen Acc. No. 1283-1976). Research results indicate they are probably of early 17th century origin, but late 16th century origin can't be definitively ruled out.

Personal papers of Lieutenant Colonel Luther G. Williams, Jr. (1943-) of Greenville, North Carolina, documenting his childhood, family, education, military service, and Civil War research.

This collection contains administrative files, correspondence, course and degree proposals, course syllabi, reports, publications, announcements and brochures, and affiliated organizations materials of the Gender Studies Program.

Papers (1933-1973) of U. S. Marine Corps aviation officer (Major Gen.) who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and who retired as commander of the Cherry Point, NC Marine Air Station, including correspondence, reports, war diaries, citations, certificates, and military records. Collection (1794-1951, 1971, undated) including correspondence, deeds, statements, promissory notes, will, inventories, legal papers; poems, clippings, photographs, etc. relating to the Banks and Stacey families.

Diary (1864-1865) kept by William W. Perry, a Pennsylvania soldier who joined the Union Army on January 4, 1864, at the age of thirteen. Also included are eight pages listing the men from Ringgold, Pennsylvania, who served in the Union Army during the Civil War.

Papers of Philip [Milton] Roth (1981) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Newark, New Jersey-born American novelist and short story writer, consisting of galley proofs ofZukerman Unbound, by Philip Roth (New York, NY: Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, ©1981); also a holograph note card.

This collection (1823-1999) contains the papers of Robert "Bob" Boyd Robinson III. Robinson, born in 1948 in Halifax County, N.C., was a member of various groups including the Sons of the Revolution in the State of North Carolina. His papers include materials related to various families of Northeastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia.

The first yearbook published by the students of East Carolina Teachers College, The Tecoan, debuted in 1923. The name of the yearbook changed to the Buccaneer in 1953. The Buccaneer suspended publication from 1976-1978 and 1991-2005, finally ceasing in 2018. It was superseded by Anchors Away in 2019.

Papers (1850-1868, undated) including estate papers, correspondence, accounts, receipt, financial papers, expenses of "genteel" education for young women, prices current in 1864, agricultural fertilizer.

Collection (1889-1890, 1893-1894) including Civil War black soldiers pension and compensation applications compiled by Frederick C. Douglass, a black lawyer, minister, and teacher in New Bern, NC who served as a government pension agent, 1889-1897.

Papers (1932-1965, undated) including correspondence, petitions, minutes, printed material, election returns, papers concerning tobacco control programs, crop report, clippings etc.
