The John W. Warner Papers (1947-1986) document the career of filmmaker and entrepreneur John W. Warner, with a primary focus on the creation, financing, distribution, and later rediscovery of the independent film Pitch A Boogie Woogie. Dating chiefly from 1946 to 1958, with additional materials from 1986, the collection includes correspondence, legal and financial records, promotional materials, memorabilia, scripts, photographs, and audiovisual media that illuminate the business and creative challenges of independent filmmaking in the mid twentieth century. Supplementary materials reflect Warner's broader professional activities in North Carolina, including television production and local theater operations. Together, the papers provide insight into regional film production, film exhibition and promotion, and the processes through which a largely forgotten work was reclaimed and recontextualized by scholars and the public decades later.

This collection contains material documenting the history of Everetts Baptist Church in Everetts, Martin County, North Carolina. Included are deeds (1953, 1963, 1980, 1981) for the parsonage land and land for later buildings; an album containing identified photographs, clippings, correspondence and a program related to the church's 1977 celebration of its Centennial; a photograph album (1950s-1980s) concerning the church containing mostly unidentified photographs, clippings and programs; and a History of Everetts Baptist Church 1877-1974 by Helen K. Peel, the donor's mother. The collection also includes Mrs. Peel's research notes, and a scrapbook (1971-1978, 1990) containing letters, church bulletins, and clippings she kept while writing, publishing, and selling her publication, information related to the 1977 Centennial Celebration, and general questions asked of her as the church historian.

Papers (1861 - 2025, undated) documenting the archaeological excavations of the Confederate defensive fortifications, river obstructions and fish trap on the River Neuse below Kinston, NC, and the Confederate ironclad ram CSS Neuse, relating to Capt. Joseph H. Price, commander of the CSS Neuse, and relating to Lenoir County, N.C., history in general including correspondence, notes, photographic prints and negatives (black and white), and publications.

The Mattamuskeet Lodge was originally built as a pumphouse to drain Lake Mattamuskeet in Hyde County, North Carolina, and was later converted to a hunting lodge. The collection spans 1915 to 2007 and includes photographs (1910s-1940s,undated) of the town of New Holland which was built in the drained lake bed, the New Holland Inn, and Lake Mattamuskeet. Scenes also include anglers at Lake Landing Canal, the Mattamuskeet Causeway, and carp barricades installed in the water control gates. A series of photographs from the 1990s show interior renovations being done on Mattamuskeet Lodge and gatherings by ECU student groups for retreats and public gatherings for special occasions. Two publications (2001, 2007) are from the period after the lodge was closed due to structural issues.

The majority of the collection relates to Captain Leslie Avery Shaw's military service in the U.S. Army, especially during World War II when he served in the 11th AAA, 49th AAA Brigade, VII Corps, U.S. First Army in Europe. Included are maps and overlays concerning operations at Utah Beach at Normandy, orders, citations, reports, photographs, letters, postcards, military ribbons and insignia, and items from his personal military file. Additional items including many photographs document his personal life after the war. Photographs, printed material and memorabilia from the 1950s and early 1960s relate to the early years of his son Robert Avery Shaw's life in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
